Youth public speaking program begins Monday

The Cooperative Extension is offering a free Speaking With Confidence 4-H Program to help youth conquer their fears and learn public speaking skills early in life.

The course will be 4-5 p.m. Mondays, Jan 28-April 8 (holidays and breaks excluded) at the Douglas County office of University of Nevada Cooperative Extension, 1329 Waterloo Lane in Gardnerville.

The program is designed specifically for youth ages 9 and up. It will include a variety of topics, such as controlling nervousness, interpreting body language, interviewing, and using audio-visual aids. Youth will also learn the importance of practicing and setting goals.

Interested youth do not need to be a current member of a 4-H project.
