What ever happened to Strawberry Fields?

The nonprofit animal rescue group sat at the corner of Waterloo Lane and Highway 88 for years saving the lives of everything from cats and dogs to geese and donkeys.

So, you may have wondered why you haven't seen its signs since last February.

Strawberry Fields Animal Rescue has moved to a new permanent location in Wellington. Gina and Jessica Stanchfield are grateful to all those who supported their move.

"We could not have done it without you," says Gina Stanchfield, founder of the group.

Strawberry Fields, in addition to being an animal shelter, offers full-service dog and cat grooming in Wellington to help support their rescue efforts.

Grooming for small dogs is $40, big dogs and cats are $60. All prices include nail trimming, ear cleaning, anal gland expression; call 775-265-3130 for an appointment.

"Bandit" is the featured pet this month; he is a five-year-old, 10-pound Chihuahua. This little guy is timid until he gets to know you but quickly becomes sweet, affectionate, and playful. He is good with kids and other dogs and is leash- and crate-trained, neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and ready to go to his new home.

Donations are urgently needed to securely fence the new property for the safety of the animals. Other projects include shade for the kennels.

"If there are any skilled contractors or others who can donate time or materials such as pea gravel, lumber, railroad ties we'd be so grateful," said Stanchfield. "Although we are no longer in Gardnerville, we hope you won't forget about us so that we are able to continue doing the work we do for the animals."

Strawberry Fields Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) organization, and all donations are tax deductible.

"Your commitment to donate just $5 a month (the price of a cup of coffee or a cocktail) can make a powerful impact on the many animals we are able to save," she said.

Please send donations to Strawberry Fields Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 6553, Gardnerville, 89460. Or, log on to strawberryfieldsrescue.com and press the donate button.
