Valley Quilt Guild delivers warmth to community groups

Special to The R-CHarold Hansen, Bruce Darling, Archie Walker, Mary Garcia, Mike Henningsen, Ray Gray and Lucia Gray. Thrivent Financial and Trinity Lutheran men donated $800 to Minden Elementary School.

Throughout their many years in operation, The Carson Valley Quilt Guild have given to the community, both local and far away, hand made quilts, sewn and assembled by their members.

For several years, a committee of members within the Guild called Community Quilts, has separately met at least once a month to manufacture quilts which are distributed to organizations in need.

The quilting materials and labor are paid for by the Quilt Guild members.

Quilts were distributed this year to the Tahoe/Douglas Elks Lodge for distribution with their Senior Christmas Baskets, Project Santa Claus, Austin’s House, City of Refuge, Carson City Advocates to End Domestic Violence, Cancer Unit at Carson Tahoe Medical Center and CASA.
