September 13, 2012
I would like to thank the following people and businesses that contributed to the new Town of Genoa Covered Wagon Monument Sign. This list is lengthy so please bear with me.
The Douglas County commissioners, The Town of Genoa, The Great Genoa Business Association, Larry the Best BBQ, Genoa Lakes Golf Club, Genoa Country Inn, Genoa Square, Dancing Deer, Silverheels Boutique, 1862 Walley’s Resort, Genoa Floral Creations, Orchard House, White Rose Inn, La Ferme, Genoa Station, Tombstone Tap and Grill, Genoa Country Store, Genoa Bar, Trimmer’s Outpost,Genoa Ghost Tours, Sweet Repeats Gillmor and Coons Real Estate, Antiques Plus Genoa Antiques, Genoa Trading Company, Peterson Antiques, Happy Photo, and North Sails. (whew) If I forgot to mention anyone (I’m sure I have. I apologize).
The wagon had come to us as a flatbed Studebaker, circa 1880. We added the hoops, canvas and resin, then structural foamed the inside to make it impervious to wind. This was a collective invention of methods not really tried before, after all how many folks know how to make a covered wagon sign that can withstand the brutal elements of the Carson Valley? So saying that, I would like to thank the following folks who did the physical work and design.
We are still working on the solar lighting and making sure the base looks rustic and fits the theme. See everyone at Candy Dance
