Support Your Cause Tour comes to CVI
December 20, 2012
Singer/songwriter Scott Helmer’s Support Your Cause Tour 2012-2013 is coming to the Carson Valley Inn on Dec. 24 and 25.
The 24 Nights leg of the tour will span more than 3,000 miles, nine states and more than 24 consecutive performances.
“The holiday season is a magical time, but can also be very tough for people who are down on their luck,” Helmer said. “It can be a lonely time for those folks, so I’ll help spread a little holiday cheer.”
From Chandler, Ariz., on Nov. 29 to Minden on Christmas Day, 24 Nights will make stops in California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Colorado, Kansas, Utah, Wyoming and Nevada.
During his 6 to 10 p.m. shows, the Carson Valley Inn will be accepting food or money from people who missed the Dec. 14 food drive, but donations are not required to attend.
In between shows, Helmer will also donate his own time to play in hospitals.
Helmer’s debut album, “Wake Me When It’s Over,” scheduled for release on Jan. 23, will be made available free of charge to anyone who donates at least $5 to a good cause of their choosing.
After forwarding your donation confirmation email or receipt to firstname.lastname@example.org, donors will receive the link to download the album.
“Wake Me When It’s Over” was recorded at the Waterfront Studios of producer Henry Hirsch, whose credits include Lenny Kravitz, Madonna and Mick Jagger. Hirsch also contributed to the effort by playing bass guitar and B3 organ.
Helmer’s tour is inspired by his own hard knocks.
“In the last recession, I lost everything, including my business and my family,” he said. “We have to support the good organizations that offer lifelines to people in need.”
The tour, which kicked off on April 30, features solo acoustic performances of songs from the album and covers of Helmer’s favorite rock and country hits.
