Supervisor candidate hosts public forum Sept. 19
September 11, 2012
Mono County Supervisor candidate Bob Peters will be hosting a “Meet and Greet” get-together on Sept. 19, 5:30 p.m., at the Mountainview Barbecue in Walker. All Antelope Valley registered voters’ households are invited to come to meet the candidate and share your thoughts for the Antelope Valley and its future. It will be a good chance to give your input and get answers to any questions you might have, so try to stop by.
High school football
The Coleville High Wolves have had an unbelievable beginning for their season. In the last three weeks, they have beaten their opponents by a combined score of 192-14.
What a start. They will be facing Owyhee this Saturday, 1 p.m., in Coleville. Owyhee usually has a pretty strong team, so this will be a “don’t miss” game. Come on out and support the boys.
A reminder that Health Nurse Carolyn Balliet will be at the Senior Center in Walker on Tuesday, from 1 to 3 p.m. with this important vaccine. In error, my last column said Sept. 28, but it will be the 18th. For any more information, call the Senior Center at 495-2323.
The next meeting for the formation of this local emergency response volunteer group will be Sept. 27, 6 p.m., at the Antelope Valley Fire Station at 1166 Larson Lane. This will be a valuable community service you can easily assist with, so try to attend and learn more about it.
This and that
Looking at Topaz Lake and the West Walker River, it is apparent that we are going to need a reasonable amount of rain and/or snow this winter to bring back our usual water level. I know we are better off than many areas in the country, but we desperately need the replenishment of our supply.
