Beginners Ballroom DancingLearn and practice the fundamentals of the Fox Trot, Swing, Waltz and many Latin dances. Class held on Fridays from 7:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the Dance Workshop. Cost is $80 a couple or $45 for single.Occupational Spanish for the Medical ProfessionThis basic course is designed to build oral communication skills in Spanish for those associated with a medical office. Class will be 5:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Sept. 12–Nov. 31 at the recreation annex building. Cost is $100.The Happiest Baby on the BlockLearn an approach to keeping your baby happy in this step-by-step how to help your baby sleep better and how to soothe a fussy baby. Class is 9 a.m.-noon Sept. 22 at the recreation annex building. Cost is $30.Nevada Junior CotillionThis program will teach students in grades fifth–ninth dancing, dining and manners. Included in this class are ballroom dancing and correct dining and etiquette skills. Class will be Mondays, Sept. 24 to Dec. 3 at the Capital Christian Activity Center in Carson City. Cost is $150.Historical FencingIn this class for ages 13 and up students will learn the basic techniques of renaissance swordsmanship. Class will be 7-9 p.m. Wednesdays, Sept. 4-25 at Carson Valley Middle School. Cost is $20. Dog ObedienceLearn to establish good conduct and curb bad habits and help you teach basic commands. Class held 7-8 p.m. Wednesdays, Sept. 26–Oct. at the Carson Valley Middle School. Cost is $80.Ditch the DietThis class for ages 13 and up is designed to teach the benefits of blood sugar stabilization and its role in achieving life long weight management and optimal health. Class will be 1-4 p.m. Sept. 22 at the recreation annex building. Class is $20.Worm BinLearn how to start a composting worm bin. Class held 6:30-8 p.m. Sept. 10 at the recreation annex building. Cost is $25.Scrapbook All Day CropThis is an opportunity for family photo historians to start a book or get a project finished. This workshop will be held 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Sept. 8 at the Senior Center. Cost is $25, water and snacks are included.Concealed Weapon CertificationThis course will cover the requirements for Nevada State CCW and can be taken by CCW applicants or anyone wanting to learn to shoot handguns. Class will be 6-9:30 p.m. Sept. 12 and 14 at the Recreation Annex building and 8-11 a.m. Sept. 15 at Douglas County Shooting Range. Cost is $90 plus an additional $10 insurance fee payable to the instructor. Spouses are half price.Beginner’s Tai ChiLearn this soft martial arts form that will include warm ups, exercises and repetitions. Class will be Saturdays and is on going. Cost is $5 per month. Agility TrainingTrain your body with agility exercises and awakened your athleticism. Improve your balance, reaction time and dexterity as well as cardiovascular fitness. Class held Mondays and Wednesdays at Lampe Park. Times are noon-12:50 p.m. and 5:15 to 6:05 p.m. Cost is $75 and pre-registration is required Pre-registration is required for all classes.
