Kindergarten registration just around the corner
February 28, 2013
Douglas County School District kindergarten registration for the upcoming 2013-2014 school year takes place March 18-19. Early enrollment helps prevent large kindergarten classes in the fall.
Registration materials in both English and Spanish are available at each school site. Nevada School Law requires that a child must be 5 years old by Sept. 30, 2013 in order to attend kindergarten during the 2013-2014 school year.
In order to fully register their child, parents must bring an original copy of the child’s birth certificate, a utility bill showing their street address as proof of residency, and up-to-date immunization records signed by a doctor or nurse. (Children may be enrolled, but will not be allowed to start school until all required immunizations are complete.)
The Douglas County Community Health Department has immunizations available by appointment only on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Their number is 782-9038.
The Carson City Community Health Department offers immunizations the first and third Tuesday of each month. Their number is 887-2195. El Dorado Community Health offers immunizations by appointment only and can be reached at (530) 573-3155.
There are two elementary schools in the Gardnerville Ranchos: C.C. Meneley Elementary is located at 1446 Muir Drive and their phone number is 265-3154. Scarselli Elementary is located at 699 Long Valley Road. They can be reached at 265-2222. Information for other Douglas County elementary schools can be found on the district’s website: http://dcsd.k12.nv.us.
