Holiday season is here, let the shopping begin
November 20, 2012
I hope everyone has a warm and enjoyable Thanksgiving, with family and friends and great food. It is going to be a busy five weeks coming up, with all of the shopping, entertaining and visiting, so relax and have a good time.
I just have a hard time getting used to the stores starting Black Friday on Thanksgiving Day, during the day and evening, and in some cases most of the night. I wouldn’t want to give up the spirit of the day to go wait in the long lines and look for bargains. I’m sure the shoppers will find the deals they are looking for and the stores will make the money they want to, but they’ll be doing it without me and many of my friends.
Coleville High Boosters
The Boosters club is hosting their 8th annual fundraiser dinner on Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Community Building in Walker, serving delicious Mexican food. Your whole family can have a lot of fun with the bounce house, a pinata, raffle, silent auction and dessert auction. The doors will open at 5 p.m., with dinner beginning at 6 p.m. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for kids 6 to 12 years old. Children under 5 years will be free. This is a good way to support our local school sports and, even better, not to have to cook dinner. Hope to see you there.
Senior Center fun
Our Antelope Valley Senior Center in Walker has started their bingo games on a regular basis, and has been enjoying very good turnouts. The games cost the seniors nothing, and they can win a certificate for one of the Center’s delicious lunches. It is a lot of fun and a good time for getting together with many local residents. The next Bingo session is set for Friday, Dec. 7, starting after lunch, around 12:30 p.m. Please come out to visit and have some laughs while playing the fun games.
Stay warm and dry as we start this winter season.
