God’s word contains all answers
March 9, 2012
Have you heard anything specific from God lately? This is a good question to think about. And I have an answer for you. You have God’s word all about you. Today there are somewhere near eight billion Bibles in the world. That is over one Bible for every person in the world. And four Bibles each for the 2.1 billion people who call themselves Christians. So I find it hard to believe when someone says they do not know what God asks of them for their lives.
The Bible is the most popular book of all time. If we would just learn to do what it says we would do a lot better in all our relationships. If we would read the Bible we would know what it says and would not have the question, “what does God want of me?”
James, in the book with his name tells us, “therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves” James 1:21-22.
So James is implying that we actually have this word in us. James is also saying to do the word and not just hear the word and walk away. This is the word which is able to save our souls. So how do we get this word in us? Romans 10:14-17 says, “How shall they call on Him in whom they have believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things! But they have not all obeyed the gospel, For Isaiah says: Lord who has believed our report? So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
So then there are people preaching so we can hear the word. And there are those that have not obeyed the word that they heard. Is that you? Are you someone who does not like what you hear God saying and ignore the words? There are many in this category. It seems every week I read about someone in the body of Christ who speaks the word and people don’t want to hear the truth. There is no tolerance for people who stand for the gospel from the people of this world. That does not mean that we should change the truth or deny the truth for sake of political correctness.
But it does mean that we should know the word and how to apply it to our lives. Because the word says in 2 Peter 1:3-4, “as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in this world through lust.” Jesus has many names explaining His character one of which is the Word.
If you want to know what God wants for your life, go to the “Word” and find out the specifics.
