Eagles & Agriculture announces photo contest winners
April 13, 2012
A close up of a bald eagle set against fall foliage and an image of an antique piece of ranch equipment have been selected as the winners of the 2012 Eagles & Agriculture Photo Contest. John Humphrey of Gardnerville and Clayton Peoples of Reno will each receive a $125 prize from the event for having the Eagles & Ag Steering Committee select their entries.
The contest, which accepts photographs taken in Carson Valley any time between the end of the previous year’s event and the submission deadline, has two categories. Humphrey’s winning submission captures the single eagle beautifully against a multi- colored background of fall foliage and won in the ‘Eagles’ category, and Peoples’ eye for composition shows in his image of an abandoned cart set against the backdrop of the snow covered Sierra Nevada range, which took the ‘Wildlife/Agriculture’ prize.
Eagles & Agriculture is a three-day celebration of wildlife and the ranching industry in Carson Valley, held in February each year. Dates for the 2013 event have been set for February 22-24.
