Don’t forget to check the propane tank
December 18, 2012
With so few days left before Christmas, it is time to relax and enjoy the season, your family, and friends. We spend so much time racing around to get things done that we finally have earned the “time off.” Watch some football games, eat plenty of goodies, and stay warm.
Speaking of staying warm, this is a reminder not to wait too long to get your propane tank up to a good amount of fuel. This is especially true for those who have an out-of-town provider. If you are getting low on fuel, remember that we have been having chilly or cold weather everyday, and you don’t want to be without ample heat.
Another winter warning I received the other day is about the flu season. Dr. Richard Johnson, the Mono County health officer, sent an email saying that all indications are pointing to an early and bad flu season. Please be sure you have your flu vaccine to avoid some of the bad risks.
Sheriff Scholl retires
Sheriff Richard Scholl has retired, effective tomorrow. Our new sheriff will be the former undersheriff, Ralph Obenberger. We wish Sheriff Scholl a happy retirement and new Sheriff Obenberger a continued good relationship with our valley residents.
I received information the other day that said that the solid waste fees (dump fees for most of us) will be rising in Mono County. The amount of the new dump fees weren’t included in the information I received, but I’ll pass it on as I find out more.
A very happy holiday season to all.
