Community invited to CVIC Hall dance
February 7, 2013
The Town of Minden is sponsoring the second annual community dinner-dance Feb. 16 at the CVIC Hall.
Town Manager Jenifer Davidson said the doors open at 5:30 p.m., and tickets are $25 per person.
Last year, Davidson said, tickets sold out well in advance, and she recommended people not waste time making reservations.
“We’ll reserve tickets over the phone, or you can come into the office and buy them,” she said.
The evening features dancing to the big band tunes of Rosebud’s Dance Band.
The dance band is an affiliate of the Carson Valley Pops Orchestra.
“This is part of the orchestra’s commitment to the town for free use of the CVIC Hall for their practices,” Davidson said.
“We brought them back by popular demand,” she said. “Last year, they did a wonderful job, and brought a lot of people out onto the dance floor.”
The dinner will be catered by Leslie’s Homemade, owned by Leslie Dupont, former owner of Cafe Girasole, Davidson said.
The menu features an accent on Italian cuisine with pesto pistachio stuffed chicken breast, herb-roasted potatoes, meatless lasagna, and Dupont’s popular salad with marionberry dressing.
The pops orchestra will sponsor a no-host beer and wine bar as a fundraiser.
Davidson said there is no dress code for the night.
“Last year we had some people dress up, and others came casual. All we say is you should dress prepared to boogie,” she said. “It should be an awesome time.”
