Cece Gable performs at Buona Sera
October 25, 2012
Jazz singer Cece Gable is performing 6:30-9:30 p.m. Saturday in the dining room at Buona Sera.
A consummate jazz cabaret performer, she has sung in jazz clubs throughout the United States and Europe including New Orleans, Las Vegas, Palm Springs, Fiji, Munich, Athens and at New York City’s Iridium with Les Paul.
She has toured with the Akio Sasajima Trio throughout Japan and has been a featured guest artist with the Reno Philharmonic, The Reno Pops Orchestra and the Carson City Symphony.
“Through the years, I have found concert venues to be the most appealing and I welcome the opportunity to give concerts pretty much at the drop of a hat,” Gable said. “While I do enjoy concert halls and jazz clubs, I have also found that the concept of House Concerts to be a great way for personalizing a musical performance and really getting to know the artists and their music.”
Gable’s repetoire includes about 300 songs which she said amazes her since when she started in 1994 she hardly knew any lyrics, “but I always knew the melodies.”
On Saturday Gable will be accompanied by Bill Hecht on keys. Her song list includes many of the American Songbook classics such as “Come Rain or Shine,” “Along Together,” “My Romance,” and “Cheek to Cheek.”
Other jazz and cabaret songs include “I’ll See You in C-U-B-A,” “The Riviera,” “A Night in Tunisia,” and “Caravan.”
“I like to think my music is accessible to everyone and I have a wide range of anecdotal stories that accompany some of my songs for those who enjoy music trivia as much as I do,” Gable said. “I am a singer who likes to work with the best jazz musicians around and I’ve been very fortunate to have been in a talented circle of people throughout the world and especially right here in Nevada.”
