Carson Valley Inn celebrates Elvis’ birthday
January 3, 2013
Elvis Presley would have been 78 on Jan. 8, 2013, and the Carson Valley Inn is marking the anniversary of his birth with Elvis Week starting Monday through Jan. 12.
Highlights include an Elvis impersonator in the casino and Cabaret Lounge, and some of Elvis’ favorite food served as specials in Katie’s all week.
Elvis impersonator Brian Andrews will be strolling through the casino during the day and entertaining Thursday through Saturday evenings in the Cabaret Lounge.
“Brian Andrews is the closest thing to Elvis that I’ve ever seen or heard. It’s no surprise that Brian can re-create Elvis so well – he happens to have one of the best Elvis memorabilia collections around,” said D.J. Fontana, Elvis’s drummer from 1954 to 1968. “He looks, moves, talks, sings – and most importantly – feels Elvis. He has amazed, thrilled and dazzled audiences for years with his exact Elvis persona – from the voice, to the way he grips the microphone, to the famous bump and grind. If you close your eyes and listen, you’ll swear Elvis is still alive.”
Elvis birthday cakes will be served with champagne, noon to 1 p.m. and 6-7 p.m. Tuesday, in the casino.
Some of Elvis’ food favorites, such as biscuits in white sausage gravy, fried peanut butter and banana sandwiches on white bread with bacon, cornmeal-battered fried catfish with cole slaw and tomatoes, and banana pudding with vanilla wafer cookies, are featured as specials in Katie’s restaurant, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. during Elvis Week.
