The R-C Morning Report for Jan. 27

We had a pretty good shaker out in the middle of Antelope Valley just before 6 p.m. Sunday. The 2.1 magnitude quake was followed by a 1.4 around 11 p.m. and a 1.7 at 1:43 a.m. That spot east of Topaz Lake has been quiet since.

A Carson City man who admitted to breaking into the Genoa Bar a year ago is scheduled for sentencing this morning in Douglas County District Court. Lenox Lacour is already serving a prison term for an early morning car theft spree in the capital last February.

There’s a big old moisture plume headed right this way, and it should start leaking over the Sierra tonight bringing rain and snow as our January high pressure ridge breaks down, according to the National Weather Service. Uncertain is the amount of rain and the snow levels.

The forecast for today is for widespread haze, and mostly sunny with a high near 59 degrees. The first chance of rain is after 10 p.m. tonight through 10 a.m. Tuesday.
