Gardnerville’s Arthur Lucero killed in I-80 wreck

A Gardnerville man was killed in a traffic accident at a highway construction site on Interstate 80 on Tuesday afternoon. Arthur Lucero, 47 was one of two highway workers killed in a construction zone when a California woman failed to slow down for traffic ahead and swerved into a construction zone to avoid hitting the vehicles. Candace Gittins, 69, of Fort Bragg, Calif., was driving a Honda sedan eastbound in the fast lane on the interstate in a marked and active construction zone halfway between Battle Mountain and Elko, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
