Aviation roundup a success

This year’s Aviation Roundup was a success. We had a great turnout and a fun crowd. We had WWII fighters, jets, gliders, and general aviation. There were rides available in a P-51 WWII Fighter, a T-6, gliders, and helicopters. We had a bounce house, food, and vendors.

I would like to take a moment to publicly thank all of the people involved in the 3rd year of the Minden-Tahoe Airport Aviation Roundup.

First off, I would like to thank our sponsors, specifically Howard & Alida Charney, and Rob Anderson for their financial contributions. Without them, we would have been severely limited on the aircraft demonstrations.

I would also like to extend a very special thank you to the EAA Chapter 403 out of Carson City. They flew down and provided free Young Eagles flights for dozens of kids. They also brought down their “Ground Bound” airplane and provided rides on the ground for kids of all ages.

The event could not have happened without all of our volunteers that came out to help with all aspects of the Roundup. We truly appreciate all of our volunteers!

The Challenger Learning Center of Reno came down and provided their inflatable planetarium dome and did shows, and were a big hit with the crowd. Thank you Paul!

I would like to thank our vendors who came out to join us. We had over 20 vendors offering everything from aircraft rides to food. Without them, the event just would not be the same. Thank you to our vendors!

Our airport businesses deserve a big thank you for the support they provided. Whether it was fuel or aircraft rides, our businesses came through.

And a very big thank you goes our airport tenants and the community. We had a great turnout and had a fun show.

Thank you again to everyone who made the 3rd annual Aviation Roundup possible. We look forward to working with you again and we will see you next year on the Oct. 11.

Chris Johnson
