Agriculture big part of our lives

Picture this. You wake up in your pajamas, slip out of your 100-percent cotton sheets, walk into the kitchen to brew some fresh coffee and bite into a delicious, juicy apple. Sounds like the average American morning, right? The average person will not see anything unusual about this situation. Little do they know that all of these small things contribute to one big part of our daily life: Agriculture.

Now, you may be wondering what agriculture really is. Agriculture consists not only of farming and ranching, but it also ranges from nutritional sciences to veterinary medicine. Agriculture and those working in that field are responsible for the coffee you were drinking with your breakfast this morning, the clothes you are wearing right now, and the food you will have on your plate tonight.

A concern for the future of agriculture is something that every member of the FFA (Future Farmers of America) shares.

The final paragraph of the FFA Creed, by E.M Tiffany, recognizes that concern: “I believe that American agriculture can and will hold true to the best traditions of our national life and that I can exert an influence in my home and community which will stand solid for my part in that inspiring task.”

If no one knows how important agriculture is in our world, how will we keep it alive?

Informing everyone we know how important agriculture is to our daily lives can impact not only the community and our future farmers, but to recognize the great work our current agriculturists are doing right now.

Next time you run into one of our local farmers, a food nutritionist, or your veterinarian, thank them for their dedication in the field of agriculture, and let them know the impact that they have on our community.

The Carson Valley FFA would like to say an overdue thank-you to all of those working in the field of agriculture, and we appreciate the great work you put in to support our community.
