East Fork units head south to help fight Yosemite fire

While smoke in the Carson Valley continued at unhealthy levels, an East Fork brush truck joined several other Nevada fire agencies, including Tahoe Douglas to go extinguish the source.

East Fork Fire & Paramedic Districts Deputy Chief Dave Fogerson said the East Fork crew left on Sunday to help fight the Rim fire, burning into Yosemite National Park. Other Western Nevada fire agencies heading down included Truckee Meadows, Central Lyon and Storey County.

As of this morning, firefighters have a line three-quarters of the way around the 235,841-acre fire, which continues to burn most actively toward Tioga Pass Road in Yosemite.
