Editor: Regarding the article on Jill Derby in the Aug. 28 edition of The Record-Courier: This is a great article and what an accomplishment, plus I didn’t know Iraq has a nonprofit, independent, American-style University. However, I couldn’t help but notice “all classes are taught in English, despite the fact that students come from all areas in Iraq and elsewhere.” Yet, here in the United States of America we aren’t allowed to have English only in our public schools?
