Keeping the band marching

Just prior to the start of the school year, the Douglas High School music director decided to accept a position out of the district. This left the music program at Douglas High School without an instructor. The school’s award winning marching band was scheduled to start their practice schedule when the director announced his departure. The band program was in danger of being cancelled until Pau-Wa-Lu Middle School Music Director, Tammy Owens, stepped up and adopted the Douglas High Marching Band. She unselfishly took on this task in addition to managing her own very successful program at the middle school.

The students and parents of the Douglas High School marching band owe Mrs. Owens a large debt of gratitude for all the effort she has extended on their behalf. Without her help the band season could well have been cancelled and this shining star of Douglas County may have gone out.
