Minden Park concert canceled

The Nevada Division of Environmental Protection has issued a very unhealthy air quality alert for Gardnerville and Carson City after monitors in both communities indicated “extremely elevated amounts of particulate matter in the air due to wildfires in California.

In light of the smoke, The GE Family Concert in Minden Park has been canceled for tonight.

So has tonight’s star party at Whit Hall.

The 24th Annual Lake in the Sky Airshow scheduled for Saturday has been cancelled due to the air quality conditions which have been impacted by the two large fires outside of the Tahoe Basin. Also cancelled are this Sunday’s Young Eagles Flights.

Dave Johnston, El Dorado County Air Pollution Control Officer with the El Dorado County Air Quality Management District has advised that the visibility has now been reduced to one mile visibility and that air quality conditions are at an “unhealthy” rating.

Tonight’s Pre-Flight party with special guest speaker WWII Triple Ace “Bud” Anderson is still confirmed at Lake Tahoe Airport beginning at 5:30 p.m. “Bud” will be joined with Vietnam Fighter Pilots Pete “Viper” Pettigrew and Mike “Wizard” McCabe.

The HopeFest Benefit Concert at the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center is cancelled.

The Collin Raye concert at the Carson Valley Inn’s new venue in Minden will go on tonight, according to the latest information.
