The RC Morning Report for July 29

Steven Walter Cozad will be in Douglas County District Court this morning for sentencing in connection with the theft of copper from a Carson Valley Ranch. The 30-year-old is wrapping up his Douglas County jail sentence in the TRE Fire. Cozad’s failure to extinguish a controlled burn two days earlier ignited the fire that burned two TRE homes.

A red flag warning goes into effect 1-9 p.m. today as gusty winds and low humidity conspire to create critical fire conditions. We can expect similar conditions through Thursday.

While it will be dry and breezy, the high temperatures will be dropping down into the 80s this week. Today’s forecast is for sunny skies with a high of 88 degrees. Expect the wind out of the west at 10-15 mph this afternoon, gusting to 25 mph.
