Suspects sought in burglary

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help identifying the persons responsible in the May 18 burglary at Smith’s grocery store in Gardnerville.

Shortly after midnight, a witness observed a mid-1990s, two-toned Suburban, possibly gold or silver with a red stripe in the middle, pull into the parking lot. Two young white males exited the vehicle from the passenger side. The witness believed they were approximately 18.

The two males approached the main entrance to the store, which was currently closed, and forced the doors open. The doors have to be physically pulled apart to gain entry into the store. Moments after the males entered the store, the witness saw them run out of the store carrying a bottle of alcohol and chips. The vehicle left the parking lot, east on Waterloo and turned south onto El Dorado drive.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, (775) 782-5126, or Investigator John Preston, (775) 782-9905.
