Thanks for support

It is my pleasure to once again thank the people of Douglas County for their wonderful support of another fund raiser for a very worthy cause. As Chair of the Kiwanis/G-3-1 Korea Association, Soar Like an Eagle Benefit Concert, to provide a dog for a wounded warrior, I want to thank many people and I would like to start by thanking my committee. Without these people this concert would not have happened. There were eight people who served on this committee. They are John Adams, Bing Bingham, Jodi Bingham, Mary Ellen Conaway, Gary Dove, Mike Henningsen and Robert Schilling.

We received cash donations from Carl and Marilyn Malkmus, Mary Ann Bentley and Carson Valley United Methodist Church.

Master Gunnery Sergeant Robert Russell donated a Marine Dress Sword which brought $1,100 via auctioneer Sergeant Major Joe VanFonda and inspired another $1,000 donation.

The following businesses and individuals donated items for our Chinese Auction; Jan Fargnoli of Mary Kay, K2 Pilates, Body Language, Bodies in Balance, G-3-1 Korea Association, Tom and Alex Peters, Genoa Lakes Golf, Buona Sera Ristorante and Bar, Tahoe Ridge Winery, All American Tire, Jiffy Lube Inc, Grand Prix Carwash, Wal-Mart, Main Street Gardnerville, Bag Ladeez, The Ridge Tahoe, Aerospace Consulting and Flight Instruction, Louie’s Mandarin Gourmet, Bings Gravel, Home Depot, Cal Ranch, Soaring NV, Sue Bennett, Hamdogs Restaurant, Laxague Feed and Supply, Hussman Land and Livestock, Scolaris Food and Drug Company.

The following persons provided other items of value that helped us hold our cost for the concert to a minimum; Tahoe Ridge Winery and Bistro, Holiday Inn Express Suites, The Record-Courier, M. Scott Properties, Bing and Jodi Bingham, Gary and Debbie Dove, Dave and Jeanne Nelson, The Entertainer, Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce, Carson Valley Arts Council and Town of Minden.

This concert was a huge success for Kiwanis and G-3-1 Korea Association. The Kiwanis Club of Carson Valley is planning on making this event an annual event and will be held in conjunction with The Eagles and Ag Week.

If you missed this event and would like to provide help for a Wounded Warrior who needs a dog you can send your donation to: Kiwanis Club of Carson Valley, P. O. Box 892, Gardnerville, NV 89410. The Club is a 501.(c).(3) organization and all donations tax are deductible. Please memo your donation for a wounded warrior.
