No charges filed in molestation report

No charges have been filed against an Indian Hills man who was accused of sexual assault on a 5-year-old child.

Derek Paul Kalaman, 32, was released after Deputy District Attorney Tom Gregory filed a note that no charges will be filed against him.

Gregory said that the investigation is continuing and charges could be filed against Kalaman if further information is turned up.

Deputies were called to Kalaman’s home on Aug. 5 where they were told by the child’s mother what happened. One of the deputies went to look for Kalaman, who’d left and found him nearby.

Kalaman allegedly admitted to molesting the child.

He appeared in East Fork Justice Court on Friday and was scheduled to appear on Monday.
