The R-C Morning Report for July 18

A lightning storm at Lake Tahoe suspended play at the American Century Classic Celebrity Golf Tournament on Thursday. Today the rounds start to count. We could also see more fire starts today.

The number of Douglas County’s employed was at its highest level of the year at 19,580, up 640 since January. According to figures released this morning the unemployment rate was 8.1 percent in June. There are still 1,720 jobless living in the county, according to the state.

Topaz Ranch Estates experienced some flooding from the quarter-inch of rain and hail it received. A flash flood watch is in effect through 9 p.m. Saturday. Don’t drive through water washing over a road, and watch out for falling rock and debris.

Expect scattered showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. There’s a lot of moisture and not much wind, so the storms will be slow and could dump a lot of moisture. Expect a high temperature of 93 degrees.
