I agree with Cheryl Kelly’s letter to the editor on May 7. Douglas County needs a change at the top of the sheriff’s office. We have a major traffic problem in Douglas County with the speeders and when you call the sheriff’s office and let them know, there seems to be very little concern about our rural roads and the speed the people are driving. On my way to work in the morning about 5:30 a.m. they are passing me on the double yellow lines, and I am going the speed limit or maybe a little over. I do have one thing to add to Cheryl’s letter, and this is my opinion, but I would be willing to bet that Sheriff Pierini will not fill out his term as sheriff and he will retire, leaving Undersheriff Paul Howell to become the new sheriff. This is how he became the head of the sheriff’s office, so why not do the same thing for the undersheriff?
