Teen held on assault charge

Bail is $10,003 for a 19-year-old accused of hitting a man over the head with a glass bottle, resulting in nine stitches over the victim’s left eye.

Michael Alan Blummer of the Gardnerville Ranchos is charged with battery with a deadly weapon.

According to the criminal complaint, Blummer and the victim were at the Johnson Lane sandpits on March 7 when the incident occurred.

Witnesses said the attack occurred at a large party at the sandpits. The victim reportedly was “jumped” at the party and hit on the head with a bottle of alcohol.

Three men reportedly knocked the victim to the ground and began to punch and kick him.

According to reports, Blummer allegedly admitted the battery. He said he struck the victim with a glass bottle over an argument the two had the previous week.

East Fork Justice Tom Perkins told Blummer if he bails out, he is to have no contact with the victim. He must be under the supervision of the Department of Alternative Sentencing and abstain from alcohol and controlled substances.

Perkins appointed attorney Kris Brown to represent Blummer, and set his next court appearance for March 19.

A preliminary hearing is set March 28.
