The R-C Morning Report for Feb. 28

I had both snow and rain on my commute into Gardnerville this morning. It’s snowing and sticking in Gardnerville as of 7:30 a.m. The Weather Service says to expect rain for most of the rest of the day with as much as a half an inch falling.

The highways are quiet this morning, with chains or four-wheel drive required over Interstate 80 from Truckee west and over Highway 89 between South Lake Tahoe and Picketts Junction. Chains or snow tires are being required over Echo Summit and Carson Pass.

Topaz Ranch Estates got a little shaker at 5:04 a.m. with a 1.4 magnitude earthquake in the Pine Nuts along the east side of Minnehaha Canyon.

Birds of Chicago are performing tonight at the CVIC Hall in Minden in a concert presented by the Carson Valley Arts Council. Tickets are $28 at the door.
