Obituary: Thomas Van Buren Williams

Tom was born to Frank and Bessie Williams in Artesia, Calif. He lived in Ariz. when he was young, he then wen to school in San Diego. in 1947 the family moved to Yerington, Nev. where he graduated from high school. He joined the Navy in 1948. He returned to Yerington and purchased two ranches, where he lived until 1967. He then moved to Gardnerville and was employed at the James Canyon Ranch. He met and married his wife, Laura, in February 1970. They raised their children and were married 42 years later. Tom worked at various jobs but his heart was always in ranching. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank; mother, Bessie; sisters, Alice Lee and Frances Peacock; stepson, Randy Hall; and stepdaughter, Donna Hall. He is survived by his wife, Laura; sons, Gary, Tom E., and Charles Williams; daughter, Tracie Jerling; stepsons, Steve, Ron, and Tim Hall; fourteen grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 13 at 2:00 p.m. Viewing will be prior to the service at 1:00 p.m. at the Methodist Church 1375 Centerville Lane, Gardnerville. burial will follow at the Garden Cemetery in Gardnerville followed by a celebration of his life at the Methodist Church.
