Obituary: Eva Edith Sarman Arigoni

Eva Edith Sarman Arigoni, 89, passed away on Jan. 24, 2013, in Yerington, Nev. Eva was born on March 8, 1923 in Gardnerville, and she was the youngest child born to Marie Seeman Sarman and Fredrick Sarman. Eva’s early years were spent in the Carson Valley area, and later the family moved to a small ranch in Coleville, Calif. Eva grew up with three sisters, Freida, Mabel, Edna; and four brothers, Edwin, John, Freddy, and Willy, who preceded her in death. Eva’s father operated a flour mill, which was generated by the old power dam on the East Fork of the Carson River. The flour was milled as Ladies Best, and became a gold medal winner at the San Francisco Expo of 1915. Eva’s paternal grandparents were German immigrants who homesteaded near Genoa, Nev.

Eva attended high school in Douglas County, graduating from Douglas High School with the class of 1941. Soon afterward, she married Aldon Arigoni in Virginia City. The couple had two sons, Robert (Kathi), and Richard. The family lived in Reno until the early 1950s, when they moved to Carson City, where Aldon worked as a correctional officer at the Nevada State Prison. He passed away on April 11, 1975. Eva was a customer service representative for Sierra Pacific Power Company for many years before retiring. Eva enjoyed scorekeeping for her two sons’ Little League teams, reading, dogs, working in her yard, and watching the San Francisco Giants. Eva is survived by her two loving sons; her five grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren, Brandee (Brian) Bernard, Jaime Arigoni (Aaron), Summer and Amber Kay, Brook (JD) Adie, and twins, Drew, and Darin (Allison) Arigoni. Eva was blessed with five beautiful great grandchildren, twins, Sierra and Sage, Walker, Ryder, and Marco.

The family would especially like to thank Eva’s wonderful friends and neighbors for their enjoyable visits, and delicious food. Thank you to American Caregivers, LifeCare, Mason Valley Residence, and South Lyon Long Term Care, for loving kindness shown to Eva during her final years.

Eva’s funeral service will be held Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at 3 p.m., at Walton’s Funeral Home, in Carson City, 1281 Roop Street.
