Obituary: Clarence David McElroy Sr.

Clarence David McElroy Sr. was born in Seaside, Calif. to Charles & Irene McElroy. Dave enlisted in the United States Navy in 1953 & served his country during the Korean War on the USS Doyle Minesweeper until his honorable discharge in 1959. Dave met Vera Green in Chicago, Ill. & married April 6, 1957. Dave & Vera had 3 children, Mona, Dave Jr. & Steve. Dave moved his family to Milpitas, Calif. in 1962 & lived there until 2000. Dave & Vera then made their home in Pioneer, Calif. living there until April of this year. Moving one last time, Dave & Vera settled in Gardnerville, Nev. Dave loved his family, friends & extended family, Rick & Patti Wells. Dave was a taxi-cab driver in the big windy city of Chicago & when he moved to Calif. he was a diesel mechanic for Borden’s, Avis & Hertz Penske in San Jose until his retirement in 1993. Dave was always involved with his children’s lives in any sport they were in. Dave was an avid outdoorsman, hunting in Chilcoot, fishing, camping at Lake Camanche. Dave loved Nascar racing & the Los Angeles Dodgers. Dave is survived by his wife, Vera; daughter, Mona (Bob) Jamison; sons, Dave Jr. (Carol) McElroy, Steve McElroy; grandchildren, Marcus (Randa) McElroy, Natalie (Ryan) Graves, Eric McElroy; great grandchildren, Liam McElroy & Ethan Graves. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at Walton’s Funeral Home. Interment will be at Lima Family Milpitas-Fremont Mortuary on Friday, October 5, 2012.
