Obituary: Basilio J. "Frenchie" Madrid


On Sunday, September 23rd, Frenchie passed away peacefully at Oak Forest Health Facility in Winston-Salem, N.C. He was a member of the King, NC Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Phyllis Trolson in 1985, and a granddaughter, Michael Ann in 1984. He is survived by his daughter, Dawn Madrid of Sparks, Nev.; twin sons, Bruce Madrid of Kirkland, Wash. and Bryan Madrid and his wife Connie of Rural Hall, N.C. He is also survived by one granddaughter, four grandsons, one great-granddaughter, nieces, nephews and their children.

Frenchie had an exemplary work ethic, deep respect for people and God’s creation. His humble demeanor endeared him to many. He was always ready to “lend a hand”. He was a long time resident of Gardnerville from 1966 – 2001. Frenchie would be most remembered by his friendly face at Miller’s Market. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
