Obituary: Audrey E. Huhtelin

Audrey was born in a small Minnesota town to Wilhelmina and Nathan Anderson. She was the second youngest of 10 children. All nine siblings and parents preceded her in death. All siblings were first generation Americans, born to Swedish parents.

Upon graduation from high school, she followed older siblings to Detroit, Michigan in search of jobs. In Detroit, she met and married Paul Huhtelin. They were married for 49 happy years prior to his death. Together they had one daughter, Patricia.

Audrey worked as a secretary in the planning department for the fledgling city of Livonia. She retired after 23 years. Pat and her husband, Mike Phillips, left Michigan for jobs in Nevada. By this time Pat and Mike had a son, Justin and a daughter, Courtney. Audrey and Paul left family and life long friends to move west in order to be actively involved in the lives of their grandchildren.

Audrey was the matriarch of her extended family with nieces and nephews across the country. She will be missed by so many. She is survived by her daughter Pat, son-in-law Mike Phillips, grandson Justin Phillips, granddaughter Courtney Phillips-Shoda (Adam) and great grandsons Jack and Luke.

Family would like to thank the staff at Carson Valley Senior Living for the loving care provided to Audrey. A private memorial service is planned.
