Sydney hedges Foster 97, a 23 year resident of Minden passed away on 11-16-2013. He was born to the late Paul Howard Foster and Sarah Ann (Dawson)Foster at Pigeon, Michigan on March 5, 1916. he was an active Real Estate Broker/Salesman a Century 21 Clark Properties in Minden since 19991. He received his first Real Estate Licence in February 1946 Long Beach, CA. from which time he maintained an active and

continuous practice until his death. During this career he was affiliated with the Property Service Co., Brellflower, Ca. Kent Realty, Los Angeles, CA., and Century 21 Offices in Oceanside and Vista, Ca. and their associated Reality Boards as well as the Carson City Reality Board and the National Association of Realtors. He was the recipient of numerous awards during his successful career, including the Century 21 Masters Club, the coveted Hall of Fame at Century Clark Properties and the high honor of status of Realtor Emeritus bestowed by the President of the National association of Realtors.As a Navy Veteran he had served at Naval Stations at Norfolk, VA., San Francisco, CA., Great lakes, IL., and the USS Salt Lake City, (CA25). In earlier years he was employed by electrical construction companies and telephone companies in Michigan, by General Motors Pontiac Division in Plant Maintenance, by the Boston Navy Yard in the production department, by the supervisor of shipbuilding (USN) at Bay City, MI. in the Quality Control Office, by the Long Beach Naval Shipyard in the planning and supply departments, by the Bureau of yards & Docks (USN) at port Hueneme, CA. as a research specialist in the catalog Department which was a participant in the government-wide standardization and unification program to facilitate the cross utilization of supplies and equipment. This assignment included coordination sessions with other government agencies at Washington. DC and other locations. He was then employed by Hughes Aircraft Co. at Culver City, CA. in the positions of Administrative Assistant, Budget Control Analyst, and staff Assistant in the Guided Missile Laboratories, and as head of Staff Services at the home plant.In addition to his administrative and cost control duties, he represented the company in Los Angeles Chapter of the Administrative Management Society and the National Micrographics Association at various locations.He and Ruth A. Temple of Minden, MI were married at the Methodist Church in Pigeon, MI. On June 1, 1941. After 65 years of wedded bliss she passed away on October 6, 2006. He was also predeceased by his parents, his brothers: Edward, Russell, and Paul. His survivors are Lynne (daughter). Alan (son) 3 grandchildren and 2 great grandson, and numerous nieces and nephews.Hismemberships: F&AM, Pigeon, MI. (Life Member); Scottish Rite Bodies (32) (Life Member); Long Beach, CA.; BPOE Elks-Minden, American Legion, Oceanside CA., Reality Board Carson City and the USS Salt Lake City Association. His interests were History, exploring the back roads and small towns of New England, dancing jazz music, travel and family activities. His genealogical studies disclosed that his immediate family were direct descendents of Christopher and Frances Foster who emigrated from England and arrived in Boston, MA. on October 10, 1638. In addition, the direct family lineage has been traced back to John Foster who was born in 1451 in England.Syd Foster A ,memorial Service will be held Saturday December 7th, 2013 at 1:00pm at the Methodist Church, Gardnerville.In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Douglas Senior Center, Masons Lodge, or Austin's House.
