Our Beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother Edith A. Stewart Blevins passed away March 10, 2014 at her home in Yerington, NV. She was born June 1,1924 in Gardnerville, NV and was raised in Alpine County, Ca until the late 1930's. She then moved back to Gardner-ville into the big yellow house at the South end of town which her mother Lois Buck had pur-chased and then built the mobile home park that backs up to the Lampe Ranch, which is now known as Lampe Park. She was the Great Granddaughter of Alvin Merrill Grover who owned and operated the Alpine Hotel (aka Wolf creek Inn) and Grover Hot Springs in Markleeville, dur-ing the mid 1800's. She told many stories about growing up in Alpine county which have been recorded and documented.
Our Mom was very versatile. Among her talents were her award-winning Bread and Butter pick-les and her teriyaki garlic. She loved cooking, canning, gardening, yard-saleing," and loved to have BBQ's with her family. She
crocheted numerous afghans for everyone in the family and entered many of them in the Yerington County Fair, winning Best of Show on several occasions. She was an accomplished horsewoman and was one of the best horseshoe pitchers this side of the Sierras, winning numerous tournaments. Edith worked many years at Harvey's at Lake Tahoe and at the Topaz Lake Lodge, where she made many friends. During WW II, Edith and her mother worked in the San Francisco ship yards in support of our country. She was preceded in death by her mother Lois Buck and her father Alfred Lee Stewart, her sis-ter Laura "Farrie Belle" Edison, and brother Edward Stewart. She leaves behind her sons David(Brenda) Mauk, M. Eugene Morrison and daughters Gail (Bill) Souligny, Valeria Williams; grandchildren Celeste (Ron) Pierini, Cheryl (Jesse) Winslow, Mitch Mauk, Mishon Mauk, Carey (Jamie) Williams, Melissa Williams, Chelsea Williams and eight great grandchildren. A graveside memorial for family members will be held at the Fredricksburg Cemetery during the Summer.
