Minden seeks comment on trailhead

Minden Town Board members are seeking public input to help design a trailhead adjacent to Jake’s Wetland and Wildlife Meadow located off Lucerne Street in Minden.

The trailhead is part of the Martin Slough Multimodal Trail being developed in coordination with the Towns of Minden and Gardnerville and Douglas County.

A workshop is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Minden Public Works Facility, 1330 Buckeye Road.

Under county code, a 6-foot masonary retaining wall is required along the property line and neighbors’ property.

Officials are asking what residents think of that, or alternatively asking for a variance to build a shorter retaining wall, or even eliminating the wall entirely.

Instead of a wall, the existing wood fences around the parcel would remain and a 10-foot landscaped area would be built.

A summary of feedback from the workshop will be presented at the town’s Dec. 4 board meeting, where residents may also offer their comments.

Anyone with questions should contact the town at 782-5976.
