Morning Report for Nov. 12

A Lake Tahoe couple is before the Douglas County Planning Commission, seeking a major variance to reduce the side-yard setback from 10 feet to 1. 5 feet at their home on 218 Sugar Pine in Lakeridge. The change will allow them to tear down the garage and build a two-story building with a garage on the bottom floor and living area on the top floor. Douglas County Planning commissioners meet 1 p.m. today at the Douglas County Administrative Building in Minden.

A Gardnerville Ranchos man who allegedly took two guitars from a neighbor’s home is expected to appear in Douglas County District Court this morning for arraignment. David Slate, 34, is facing charges of burglary and grand larceny in connection with the incident. The guitars have been returned.

For a day that’s supposed to be partly sunny, it’s not very sunny out. While it looks like rain, don’t expect any before the clouds clear out right around sunset. Today’s high temperature is forecast to hit 71, and it will get a little breezy this afternoon.
