Highway 88 at Mottsville was closed for 45 minutes Friday as firefighters extinguished a 3-4-acre brush fire southwest of the intersection.
East Fork firefighters responded to the fire, which was reported at about 2:15 p.m.
The fire burned in an open field, and sent smoke across the highway in a plume that could be seen around Carson Valley.
One witness who passed through that area before firefighters arrived said the smoke was so thick, she couldn’t see the lines on the highway.
Firefighters had the fire out and cleared the scene at 5:05 p.m. There was no report of injury.
