A Gardnerville man was helicoptered to Reno for treatment after a rollover accident on Mottsville Lane at about 1:20 p.m. Friday.
Thomas Eldridge Wohler Jr., 55, was eastbound on Mottsville between the intersection of Foothill Road and the curve in a green 1994 Ford Explorer, when for some reason he drove off the right roadway edge, according to NHP spokeswoman Barbara Stapleton. He steered left, across the eastbound lane before overcorrecting. The Explorer rolled three times before coming to rest on its top.
Wohler was wearing his seatbelt, Stapleton said. He had to be cut from the wreckage of the Explorer due to the damage the vehicle sustained.
He was flown to Renown Regional Medical Center by Care Flight helicopter with nonlife-threatening injuries.
East Fork Fire & Paramedic Districts rescuers and Douglas County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the accident.
Three hours later, at 4:25 p.m., a woman driving a white Ford Explorer was involved in an unrelated accident at Centerville Lane and Lutheran Bridge.
The 56-year-old Gardnerville resident was southbound on Centerville when she ran into the bridge guardrail. She was taken to Carson Valley Medical Center where she was checked out before being booked into Douglas County Jail for driving under the influence and failure to maintain due care.
The road, which is the main route between Gardnerville and the Ranchos, was closed while authorities cleared the accident.
