Man arrested after foot chase

A Bodie Flats man with a lengthy criminal record was arrested Wednesday afternoon near the Pine Nut community after he ran away from deputies who were trying to serve an arrest warrant.

David Gomez, 30, was identified riding in a vehicle, when deputies attempted to serve the warrant. The vehicle stopped, but Gomez ran from the vehicle.

He was captured and taken into custody on the warrant for violating the terms of his probation, possession of narcotics and resisting a public officer.

After being taken into custody, Gomez complained he couldn’t breathe. He was taken to Carson Valley Medical Center for evaluation.

Gomez was last in East Fork Justice Court in March when he was sentenced to 30 days in jail. He is on probation for domestic battery and faces a six-month jail sentence.

He spent 3 1/2 years in prison before being released last November. Gomez has served two prior prison terms for selling methamphetamine, and eluding a peace officer who believed Gomez was trying to run him over with a van.
