A Fernley man was arrested Sunday in Bridgeport after Mono County deputies received a report of a grand theft of fishing gear and cell phones.
The victims in the theft identified Paul Harlow, 37, and gave deputies a description of his vehicle and told them he possibly had a firearm. The vehicle was spotted in Bridgeport, and deputies pulled Harlow over with weapons drawn.
He was taken into custody and the material was recovered, as was a loaded .357 handgun. A second victim contacted deputies about a theft and was able to identify his property among that confiscated from Harlow.
Harlow was booked for grand theft, possession of a loaded firearm, possession of narcotics, and other charges.
It was a busy week for Mono County authorities. Opening day of fishing started at 4:15 a.m. Saturday when members of the Mono drug task force and officers conducted a narcotics investigation at the Mammoth Lakes Motel 6, where they netted two Anaheim, Calif., residents for possession for sale of methamphetamine and heroin among other charges.
Jesse Lovell, 20, and Kirea Lovell, 22, were taken into custody.
Earlier last week, several people were taken into custody on a variety of charges as a result of traffic stops.
On Thursday, patrol deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of highways 395 and 203 for nonfunctioning vehicle lighting. Reno residents Andrea Francis, 34, and Demorio Williams, 40, were arrested for possession of a stolen firearm, felon in possession of a firearm, receiving stolen property, and other various charges, according to the sheriff’s office.
On April 23, patrol deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling on Highway 203 near Mammoth Lakes, for several traffic violations. Abigail Bateman, 23, of San Diego, was placed under arrest for possession of cocaine, possession of prescription narcotics without a prescription and other various charges.
Also on April 23, a South Lake Tahoe man was arrested for possession of cocaine after deputies pulled him over for speeding in Walker.
Ricardo Galicia-Osuna, 19, was placed under arrest for possession of cocaine and other charges.
