Gardnerville Ranchos residents are being asked to offer ideas about what they’d like to see built at Mitch Drive Park.
Public workshops are Wednesday and April 24 to gather ideas that will be discussed by Gardnerville Ranchos General Improvement District trustees at their May 1 meeting.
Mitch Park is 20 acres in size. It’s center piece is a two-acre fishing pond with gazebo, along with covered picnic tables, a children’s playground area, tennis courts, walking/bicycle trail, equestrian trail that rings the outer area of the park, portable restroom facilities and approximately 1.5 acres of grass that will be planted this spring, according to District Manager Bob Spellberg.
The board has had comments such as a bicycle pump track, putting green with chipping and sand trap area, beach volleyball court, exercise equipment area and a basketball court, Spellberg said.
With the pond and the other amenities already there, the park doesn’t have room for baseball, football or soccer fields. If the public cannot attend the workshops, they may email the district at GRGID@grgid.com with ideas anytime. Spellberg said district staff will promptly answer all emails.
