Anthony Arthur Bartone

Anthony Arthur Bartone, 89 of Gardnerville, was called home by his heavenly father on May 5th, 2014. Anthony passed away peacefully, surrounded by caretakers and family members. Anthony is survived by Frances, his loving wife of 68 years, his devoted daughter, Donna (Ignatius) Calabrese of Gardnerville, sons Arthur (Martha) Bartone of Long Island, NY. Douglas (Jacqueline) Bartone of San Diego, CA. And sister Theresa Capua of Long Island, NY. Doting grandfather of 14 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces. Anthony was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Mary (Bellini), brothers Arthur, Louis, Joseph, and sister Mary all of Long Island, NY. Anthony was a WWII Navy Veteran, whose ship, the USS Frankford, participated in the Normandy invasion. His ship also participated in escorting President Roosevelt to Malta, to sign the surrender of Germany. Anthony also served 24 years as a Nassau County, NY motorcycle police officer. He relocated to Canoga Park, CA in 1975. Then in 1988, relocated again to Gardnerville, NV. In 1989 Anthony went to work for Ceasar’s in Lake Tahoe, as a limo dispatcher. He also worked for Harrah’s as a limo department consultant and limo driver. Anthony also served with the Douglas County Senior Patrol for many years. He loved his job, and was loved by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed by all. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Aug 9th at 10am at St. Galls Catholic Church, Centerville LN, Gardnerville. Reception will follow.
