Susan Wilson

Dec 8, 1937 - July 19, 2014

Susan Brown Wilson passed away July 19, 2014, in Fairbanks after being diagnosed with cancer. She was born in Medford, Oregon on Dec. 8, 1937. She is survived by her four children, Jack, Susana, Scott, and David. She is also survived by her 14-year partner, George H. Wilson. Wilson spent most of her working life in the gambling industry and held many related positions in clubs throughout Nevada. Susan was a resident of the Lake Tahoe/Carson and Gardnerville areas in the 60’s and 70’s, where she was employed by Harvey’s Wagon Wheel, Barneys, and South Shore nugget. Her son David Milligan is employed by Harrah’s Lake Tahoe. She is survived by her former spouse, Cy Milligan. She was born and raised in Medford, Oregon, where she will be laid to rest. Wilson was preceded in death by her sister, Sally, her mother, Dorothy Gastanozok and three husbands. She was an accomplished horsewoman and received many awards for her paintings of animals. Per her request, there are no services to take at any location. Her partner wrote, “Beloved daughter, sister, mother, and wife, twice my wife, the love of my life, my soul mate forever, my nemesis so clever, animal advocate and a friend to all, her last request was oh so small: “Forever with grandma my ashes shall lie, while I’m in the winds on high, crisscrossing the endless expanse of sky. So, do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not here, I did not die. I ride away on my horse with no name, away from any form of pain, shame or blame.”
