Raymond Burdett Foss passed away at his home in Gardnerville, Nevada, with his wife at his bedside on Friday, May 16, 2014. Ray was born to Herbert and Viola Foss in Burbank, CA on November 19, 1931. He married Carol Smith on June 4, 1954, and had sixty years filled with many happy memories during their life together. Ray was a proud father and grandfather. His family includes a daughter, Debbie, and husband Bernie Federmann, granddaughter Jamie Federmann, grandson Brian Federmann and his wife Stephanie, great grandson Payton, and great granddaughter Kylie, all of Lompoc, CA Also included is son, Jeff Foss, and wife, Amy, with granddaughter Elise of Tonkawa, OK. Ray also had many nieces and nephews. Ray was preceded in death by sister, Patricia, and is survived by sister, Yevonda May. Ray grew up and attended school in Burbank, CA. During the Korean War, Ray served in the 115th bomb squadron of the United States Air Force, based in Norfolk, VA. He worked for many years in the sheet metal industry in Southern California. After that he worked as building/constuction inspector for Ventura County, CA and Douglas County, NV until his retirement. Upon retirement, he and Carol travelled full-time, towing their fifth wheel trailer behind Ray’s Dodge pickup. Ray and Carol loved stream fishing and camping throughout their years together. Ray loved teaching his grandkids to fish and helping with the annual kids fishing derby. Ray’s bucket list included sky diving which he was able to complete in 2010. A member of Trinity Lutheran, his faith in God grew stronger with each and every day. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Mary’s Hospice at 425 Elm, Reno, NV 89503.
