Don was born in Lockport, New York to Florence Perry and Elwood B. Corwin. He graduated valedictorian from Newfane High School. He attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Albany, N.Y., before serving in the United States Army in Munich, Germany. Don worked as a Construction Manager, which took him to work in many states and countries. Projects include BART Stations, San Onofre Nuclear Plant, Hydro Electric Dams, and even building the Palace for the Sultan of Brunei on the Island of Borneo. Mr. Corwin enjoyed, playing poker, gem faceting, astronomy, rocks and mineral collecting, reading, flying his own plane, and playing poker. Donald and wife Carol visited all 5 continents in their 43 years of marriage. Survivors include his wife Carol, children, Donald Jr., Cara-Lee (Karsen), Bryan, and John Hennessy (Erin); grandchildren, Kyle, Christopher, John August, Peter and Brandy,and sister Dorothy Degnan and her two daughters. He is preceded in death by his parents; and first wife, Lillian Leighton. A short Memorial Service will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at St. Gall Catholic Church. Refreshments will be served after the memorial in the Church. In Lieu of flowers, please donate to Young at Heart Senior Citizens Club.
