Rebba Lois (Simmons) Kirby, of Kansas City, Mo., passed away peacefully early Sunday morning February 16, 2014 at home in Kansas City, at the age of 64 in the presence of her husband.
As was true for her, she won her battle against her health problems and got to a much better peaceful place.
Rebba was born July 22, 1949 in Bieber, California, the second daughter of Enoch and Wilma Simmons. Rebba graduated from Big Valley High School in 1967 and attended Lassen Community College for a short time the fall of 1967. She met her future husband in Adin, Ca. through a blind date and married Lonnie Kirby November 18, 1967 in Bieber, Ca. They lived in California and Nevada where ever her husband’s employment with the U. S. Forest Service and later employment with private companies as a land surveyor took them. They retired in 2005 and moved to Kansas City, Mo. for Rebba’s health.
Rebba is preceded in death by her father Enoch (Shorty) Simmons. She is survived by her mother Wilma Simmons, older sister Donna Ellenberger, brothers Ellis Simmons and Charles Simmons, sisters Marlene Nettleton and
Darlene Flader, her husband Lonnie of 46 years, daughter Leslie Simmons, grand daughter Amanda Longe, great grandson Lucas, grandson Steven, daughter Cindy Kirby -Diaz, grand daughters Lyra Diaz and Alia Diaz, a loving and extended family, aunts, uncles, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Graveside service was at 11:00 A.M., February 21, 2014 at Adin, California Cemetery. A remembrance luncheon was held after the service.
